Expensive lip balm that works well

Posted by editor On June - 4 - 2008

My favorite hunt at the beauty counter has always been lip balms, cuz they’re a necessity for me. I have been trying lots of lip-balms and two of the best and my favorites so far are the “By Terry” Baume De Rose SPF 15 ($55) and “LA MER” Mint lip balm ($55)

“By Terry” Rose Lip Balm

Our lips have some of the thinnest cover on our entire body. They are super sensitive to the environment since they don’t produce any moisture on their own. Therefore, as soon as we feel a crack, or a patch of dryness, our lips become extra sensitive.

Not only does rose smell feminine, sweet and light, but it contains essential oils necessary in healing dry, chapped and cracked lips.

by Terry Rose Balm Gloss, $50, has just created a new crystal case for their best selling rose lip balm! This lip balm contains a high concentration of lipid (fat) building rose wax which hydrates and nourishes the lips. It helps to repair, rejuvenate, strengthen, and fight early signs of aging in your lips. Plus, it smells great too. This gloss/balm plumps up your puckers ever so slightly and leaves them glowing and kissable.

“LA MER” Mint Lip Balm

The Lip Balm infuses a potent concentration of the original Miracle Broth™ with marine extracts, botanicals and vitamins to regenerate the delicate lip skin.

This luxurious emulsion works on contact to soften roughness, relieve dryness and flaking and help heal seriously dry lips. A patented Lip Lipid Complex is the first line of defense. It delivers moisture, strengthening the lips’ minimal moisture barrier and helping to prevent further damage. An essential protein found in the arctic helps insulate vulnerable lip skin from extreme conditions of heat and cold. Mint comforts the lips and enhances the balm with a cool, refreshing flavor. Like Crème de la Mer, the results are immediate – lips look and feel smoother, softer, plumper – yet long lasting.

Ever woder what’s beneath a woman’s dress? well is it really just skin or something more? Rather a woman’s secret perhaps. Most women will want to display their sexy body curve to the maximum possible, if permitted. It will not only make us women look good but also feel good. Sometimes it is not possible to do so with all kinds of fashionable clothings and wears because we commonly only have regular bras in our closet, which won’t work for special kind of dresses (such as shown in above’s picture with Gwyneth & Celine wearing it). Lucky us to know that some people take that into consideration: making supporting underwear products that are readily avaiable and easily obtainable (e.g. by the www) based on current looks. In a way we have the convinience of supportive undergarment products with ease because people starting to create flexible undergarments not just for regular supporting needs or comfort but also to suit nicely with dresses that are on fashions.

Facial – the tool of the trade

I kinda go overboard with cleanliness issue, so when it come to having a facial I just gotta do it myself. Well it’s true, I used to go to facial and couldn’t figure out what the beautician used to extract those blackheads, whiteheads, or zits till later I found out they are using this double loop extractor tool and sometimes needle (ouchh). So from then on I did my research and gotta have my own facial tool (skin care too), aside from all those masking & face care items, now I add doing this regular extraction to my face care and I just lovin my skin =) since.

Tip I’d share: I don’t go to facial spa anymore cuz everytime I visit, I’d have pimples on my face couple days after having a treatment. So it’s not just about the cleanliness, but the after-effect isn’t so good for me either.

Laser Hair Removal Consequences – Brazilian Waxing

Posted by editor On May - 18 - 2008
All women acknowledge good things when it come to “hairless fashion trend” that become more popular these days in our society, especially when spring/summer arrives. Brazilian wax is quite a regular, at least for me and among my female friends, but when you have to do it every so often sometimes kinda wonder of that laser option that promise to have it permanently remove (so don’t have to bother with regular waxing). As I researched more with the topic I came across this article (that really makes me stick with the regular waxing icon smile option):

Popularized in an episode of Sex in the City, it involves removing all body hair.

At Spa Radiance, the hairless look is growing in popularity. Angelina Umansky, owner, Spa Radiance: “This year has been the biggest year for Brazilian waxing ever at the Spa.”

Twenty-year-old Stella Chung is a regular client. Stella Chung, hair waxing client: “I want to make sure it’s clean there, and for hygiene issues, too.

” What about the pain? Angelina Umansky, owner, Spa Radiance: “We don’t use a lot of numbing creams because they take awhile to kick in. But we do small patches.”

Stella Chung, hair waxing client: “Initially, when I first got it done, of course it hurt. It’s more like a stinging feeling. But it’s really fast and quick. But when you get it done everything, three weeks or not, you get used to it.” And Stella says her partners prefer it, too.

Stella Chung, hair waxing client: “Usually, the partners that I’m with, they prefer the bare because I think it’s a whole trend thing.”

In fact, for an entire generation, hairless is becoming the new standard of beauty. For almost any female between 15 and 25, the message seems to be bare is better.

Male, name withheld: “It shows they just try to take care of their bodies. You know, like it portrays them more like femininity when it’s not so, when it’s hairy.”

Male, name withheld: “I’m just not attracted to hair, I guess. I don’t know. It’s not something that is appealing.”

Female, name withheld: “I know a lot of guys prefer it, and I know a lot of guys joke about women not being hairless in certain areas, and it is kind of weird. So I think there are social pressures to conform to being more hairless these days, for sure.Even in high school – that’s where it started, and it’s just getting to the point where most women are.”

There are real concerns here. First, this body hair has lots of functions, including providing protection and lubrication for tender tissues. And while shaving or waxing all your body hair is one thing, many women are turning to lasers for hair removal. But with any laser, there is the potential for burns and serious infections, like triggering a herpes outbreak.

For Berkeley physician Christine Brozowski, the demand for total laser hair removal is skyrocketing.

Christine Brozowski, M.D., physician and laser specialist: “It’s just a very popular thing.” She cautions in untrained hands, patients could be harmed.

Christine Brozowski, M.D., physician and laser specialist: “I think that laser procedures in general are very safe. However, when used not in the proper hands there is a greater chance of having a complication such as hyper, hypo pigmentation (those are changes in the skin color), or infection, or burning.”

She routinely pre-treats a lot of patients with an antiviral medication to prevent a herpes outbreak. Laser hair removal requires several treatments, six weeks apart to destroy the hair follicles during their growth cycle.

That leads to one more caution: Christine Brozowski, M.D., physician and laser specialist: “Your hair is not going to grow back. So you need to know that. It’s not a six-week thing. It’s that your hair is not going to grow back.”

Even more than tattoos or piercing, this is one fashion trend you may be stuck with for life.

Further complicating the problem is that many teens and young adults are getting treated at spas or salons – not at dermatologist’s office. So the risk of infection and burns is far greater.

The other day I was trying to make my eyes appear bigger just like the make-up artist did for my wedding day, and as I researched I came across Jen’s blog, to my suprise she diligently put on this eyelid tapes and make-up tip tutorial, very useful.

Hey guys, just thought I’d do a little tutorial for the girls who are single-lidded and want to know how to apply makeup with eyelid tape. It seemed like a useful thing to do.

A little info to start with from Jen:

*What are single-lids and double lids? Single lids are eyelids that don’t have a crease above the lash line. Double lids do. There are many naturally double-lidded and single-lidded Asians in the world.

*What is eyelid tape? Eyelid tape is a small, curved strip of medical tape used to form a crease on the eyelid. Some say that it stretches out the lid, but I find that if you put some water on the tape at the end of the day, it comes off with no tugging.

And here’s the tutorial:

Step 1. First, apply the tape. Try to make it so that the crease is a natural size for your eye shape and size.

Step 2.
Next, apply highlighter (color 1 in the revlon palette) to the brow bone. Use a medium shade (color 3) and apply color to your lid above and to the outside of the tape. The color should fade in, about 2/3 of the way into your lid.

Step 3.
Add a darker color (color 4) as contour to your lid. Try taking a smaller brush and running it along the area right beneath your brow bone. It should almost make a “c” shape and the color is stronger at the edges, and blended in.

Step 4.
This is the key to looking natural! Take a black, matte liquid liner and draw a line that covers the space under the tape and also slightly on top of the bottom edge of the tape from inside to out. It is especially critical to cover the tape on the inner half of your eyelid, as this is the part most likely to show when your eyes are open. Be patient and take it slow since this part can get tricky!
Note: you can cover more of the tape with eyeliner for a more dramatic look, or cover it completely and put black eye shadow around the tape for a smokey-eye. Just make sure to match the liner on the tape and the liner on your skin so it is seamless.

Step 5.
Curl your lashes with an eyelash curler and apply Max Factor Lash Perfection Waterproof mascara to top and bottom lids. (I prefer to use the non-waterproof version on just my bottom lashes as it makes them longer and less sticky.)

Hope this will help

Celebrity’s Beauty Secrets – weight management

chamomile tea

celery juiceAny weight complaints at all? maybe should try some of these celeb tips. I actually did try the tea suggestion, and I didn’t figure out how it actually work till I heard that you actually need to drink at least a glass of tea before and after meal, not just as you like it. It really does work on that slimming process, cuz tea actually prevent absorption of food if you do take it before meal, and help faster digestion (throw out all those oil excess from food) if you take it after meal. Hope this’ll help. Opss ya about that Donna Karan’s blend, I do heard that celery can make you slim because the body takes more calories to process the digestion of celeries compare to the calories the celeries bring for the body, hmm confusing but it’s the truth =p (give it a try snacking those celeries for getting rid of those extra pounds, lol)

“Daisy Fuentes has a quick weight lose trick of drinking one liter of chamomile tea and one liter of water daily– the combination accelerates fat burning!Diana Ross stays in shape by doing her own housework! “Cleaning is a tremendous stress reliever and keeps my body taut, ” says Miss Ross.

Supermodel Giselle Bundchen stays shapely by pouring hot stuff on her food for a natural thermogenic burn.

Donna Karan does a quick slim down by blending cabbage, apple, parsley, carrots, and celery in a juicer and drinking it for a day or two.

Susan Lucci observes a Portuguese diet staple– she snacks on sardines because their omega-3 fatty acids are essential for smooth skin.”

Thanks to peertrainer for the info.

Natural Pimple Ointment

Posted by editor On May - 10 - 2008

tea baggreen teaNo one really know exactly on how to really get those pimples off the skin on faces. I’ve run to so many pimple medications and face care products, some are quite abrasive on skin and some mild with no effect at all. Till one day someone told me to use a tea bag on pimple, preferably the one from green tea. It doesn’t take a day to remove it though, but it works, at least for me. It’s the natural way to get rid of the pimple, so it’s more on the low-risk side than those chemical-made products. And if it doesn’t help just yet, try to take some zinc (from your vitamin tablets or food) I heard zinc can help get rid of pimple faster. Hope this’ll help.
