St. Patrick’s Day Annual Celebration in San Francisco

Posted by editor On March - 14 - 2009

I didn’t realize that today is the day when St. Patrick’s Day Annual Parade Celebration takes place. So it took me three hours to get to downtown San Francisco (ouchhh!) even though I live in the City. Today most of major roads toward downtown were closed for the parade (which made me stuck). Well but I wasn’t all that upset because I had a chance to see a little celebration full of brides. Yes male and female they were all wearing bridal attire and dance in the city today. I saw these brides ran around and hoped into the bus (they were shouting and cheering from the open deck sign-seeing bus) it was a very fun, relieving and entertaining sight for me after all those hours sitting in the traffic. (I am glad I was able to take these three pictures home to share – taken from iPhone)

A little info from kron4 about the parade:

The parade starts at Second and Market streets around 11:30 a.m. with dancers, performers and visitors from Ireland, said event spokesman Diarmuid Philpott with the United Irish Societies of San Francisco.

The parade ends at the Civic Center Plaza with a festival featuring three beer gardens, live entertainment, pony rides, a petting zoo and about 60 vendors.

“People will be selling Irish hats, Irish clothing, beef jerky,  jewelry, arts and crafts, and will celebrate being green,” festival  spokeswoman Sarah Tipple said.

here’re pictures of last year’s parade:
