I am always a fan of make up, even though my mom did not really teach me how to do it. I learn mostly from books (before youtube). As I’m getting better doing it, I learn that make up brushes are very important in achieving flawless make up. It does not matter if you use a hundred dollar foundation if your brush is not good, you will end up with uneven face. I evolved from using finger for my foundation to cosmetic sponge to flat foundation brush and finally to stippling brush.
When I first learned how to do make up I only have 3 brushes which are powder brush, blush brush and eyeshadow brush. I thought that was all I need. Now, I have brush for pretty much everything 😛
I never thought I was obsessed with make up brushes until today. Today, I received a package from my dear friend in Vancouver. It is a MAC 226 brush, it was a limited edition and it is totally sold out in the States. Since, I have to have it, I frantically asked my friends abroad to find it for me. Some could not find it in their country, but lucky for me Vancouver still has it.
After trying a lot of make up brushes I have to admit that MAC has the best make up brushes. They are a little bit pricey, but they will give you a nice application and they will last long if you take good care of them (that is probably why most make up artists use MAC brushes). For those of you who are just starting with make up, I do not recommend buying MAC brushes. I suggest that you buy cheaper brushes to get a feel of what you like and how you want to do your make up.
MAC has so many different kind of brush, they have 24 brushes for eyes alone, 18 brushes for face and 3 brushes for lips. Obviously you don’t need to buy all of them, a lot of them have similar function. I suggest that you only buy those brushes that have multifunction, so that you will get the most bang for your buck. If you feel that MAC brushes are out of your budget there are a lot of other brands that copy MAC brushes, they are not the same quality but probably will do the job.
So far, these are my MAC brush collection: MAC 187, MAC 188, MAC 165, MAC 168, MAC 217, MAC 219, MAC 226. I also have lots of other brushes. I think I should stop buying brushes 😛
