Sumo Omni Beanbag

Posted by Smurfette On March - 19 - 2009

This appears to me like a gigantic beanbag compare to the beanbags that I have ever seen before. There is a review about this particular bean bag, apparently this beanbag is very comfortable.

Lifestyle: Sumo Omni Beanbag Review

by Eric Bush

Gamers like to be comfortable when they are sitting back enjoying the latest Xbox 360 title to hit the streets. For this reason alone a company that goes by the name Sumo decided that it would push it’s latest line of beanbag chairs to gamers. Time and time again I have complained to my significant other about the couch being too small or the Lazy-Boy being too old for long gaming sessions. No more, because recently I got a chance to test drive the Sumo Omni Beanbag and when I finally got around to gaming while testing it (the other times sleep prevailed), I found that gaming is actually more enjoyable when I was comfortably numb. The Omni is not your average beanbag chair; it is so much more because it basically molds to whatever shapes the owner can come up with. Sumo is marketing the Omni towards the young, tech-savy crowd and it fits perfectly; it would not surprise me to see this beanbag in a gamer’s entertainment lair, a young professional’s house, or a college student’s dorm room.I was pleasantly surprised after opening up the massive 5-foot by 3-foot box (I have a friend that lives in a smaller box) that the Omni chair arrived in because there was basically no complicated setup involved. Sumo listened to the cries of people everywhere who have ordered something off the internet, they put the entire beanbag together before it ever shipped from the warehouse. The bag itself is built out of a very resilient, rip-proof nylon material that is tough enough to handle the biggest gamers but still remains very smooth to the touch. Inside the Omni are thousands of polystyrene foam beads that cause it to mold to whatever shape needed (think space mattress like material) at the time. The Omni is 4.5′ x 5.5′ big and it only weighs 18 lbs making it roomy but light enough to move easily.

Not only will the chair change shape depending on how the user wants to sit/lay in it but it also molds itself to their body once the person has plopped down into it. The small micro-beads work their way around the body of whoever is sitting in the Omni and thus causes an almost unparalleled amount of comfort. It is so simple to shape the Omni that I found myself trying different positions multiple times in one sitting; everything from sitting straight up, to sitting in a bar-stool like chair, to lying down on a bed-like position. …

The slider is quite an adrenaline challenge for those wanting to put their courage to the test. It is about seven stories tall totaling 28,25 meter in height and 72 meter in length. It will only take twelve (12) seconds for a person to complete the ride on this stainless steel and transparent polycarbonate tube. This slider sometimes referred as the giant slider being the world’s highest and longest slider which rumored to cost about 13 billion IDR or approximately 1,085,000 USD.

This slider called Atmostfear is nested inside the fX Lifestyle X’nter in the Central Business District, Jakarta, Indonesia.

The mall itself has a really engaging interior as well as architecture (if I am not mistaken it’s designed by DCM – PT Duta Cermat Mandiri and collaboration of ten well known Indonesian Interior Designers) – source. Here are some pictures of the mall’s interior:

I can never forget my visit to Huset Tage Andersen in Ny Adelgade. As an interior student at that time his creations amazed me, the truth is until now I still think it’s the most beautiful flower shop I’ve ever been. So I’d like to share it with all of you especially those passionate about flower and design:

If you happen to be in Copenhagen, Denmark then I think a visit to Tage Andersen’s Floral house is a must. The floral house is also a small museum with a small fee to get in – but it’s worth it.
Here are some more pictures. I really admire his creation:

Mistakes From FRIENDS Episodes

Posted by Smurfette On March - 16 - 2009

Image from tv.com

I grew up watching Friends. Whenever I watch reruns, I still get a good laugh from them. I have pretty much memorized all the episodes. I have all the Friends DVDs, and I even bought the Friends Trivia game. When I played it with my friends, they think I’m a “Friends” geek because I remember all the little details.

I found a blog about movie mistakes and they have a big list for Friends mistakes. If you are a fan of Friends you should check this out. I never noticed any of this stuff even though I watched Friends over and over. Check out the mistakes after the jump! Read the rest of this entry »

Airlines checked luggage allowance and baggage policy

Posted by editor On March - 8 - 2009

Different airlines hold different policy concerning luggage allowance however during the past two years I am aware that many airlines industries have decided to tighten the limit for free luggage allowance. This has upset me when I assisted one of my family member last night at the airport – I remembered for international traveling between US and other countries luggage allowance used to be 70 lbs each for maximum 2 luggage, however starting spring 08 most will only allow 50 lbs each. Aside from that part I also tried to make sure that there will be no liquid or what so ever in the carry-on luggage – remember the hassle when this started? (plus moving all liquid content to check-in luggage will add up weight faster)

What even more upsetting is the fact that US domestic flight also tighten its free luggage allowance so travellers sometimes can’t even check in one luggage because there’s no longer gree luggage allowance for domestic travel although some airlines such as southwest and virgin are still quite generous with their free allowance, while most will charge $15 for the first luggage.

Dare to try something different? something out of the ordinary? try to stay in a yurt (Treebones resort’s definition: Yurts are tent-like circular fabric structures with wood lattice frames) You’ll get the close-to-nature experience especially when you find one that sits in such a beautiful place between San Simeon and Big Sur – The Treebones Resort) check out these pictures from the resort:

Treebones Resort is one of few resorts that get featured on concierge.com editor’s pick. This is what concierge.com has to say:

The 16 yurts have been constructed with an eye toward sustainability: They’re temporary structures, with wooden floors and canvas walls stretched across lattice frameworks. Each has a comfortable bed gussied up with a patchwork quilt, a couple of chairs, heat, sinks, and electricity. There are no private baths—instead you wander down a path to a sparklingly clean bathhouse—and meals are prepared in a simple lodge building (dinners are generally barbecued, and you make your own waffles at breakfast). The place appeals largely to do-it-yourself travelers who pack their own beach towels, who prefer hiking and kayaking to golf and tennis, and who come for unadulterated contact with the landscape. After all, Los Padres National Forest sits behind the property, and the ocean stretches out in front. The one nod to luxury here is the heated pool and hot tub, a welcome relief after a long day of communing with nature.

This is a cute human-size bird nest like structure (you may spend the afternoon meditate or just enjoy the structure) or for those brave enough you may bring a sleeping bag and book this nest for a night stay =)

Poseidon, Fiji – the word’s first undersea resort hotel

Posted by editor On November - 5 - 2008

So How do you like to sleep under the sea without getting wet? I always admire sea beauty and its creature, too bad I am a sea freak. I wouldn’t last very long in sea water before I shout out “help” with a hysterical tone, cuz to tell you the truth I am terrified of sharks. Well now with the luxurious lifestyle Poseidon Undersea Resort offer the benefit of enjoying the view of natural sea from your bed chamber. It’s like living in an aquarium except it’s the other way around we’re inside the air-filled aquarium and the fishes are outside surrounded by water.

Poseidon Undersea Resort is nestled in the crystal clear cerulean water of Fijian lagoon. It is said to be open in 2009, by begining of 2010 they will start taking regular reservation.

According to the developers, the island comprises approximately 225 acres, stretches a mile long and is surrounded by a 5000-acre lagoon with waters that range to 90 feet in depth. It is situated within a coral atoll that was chosen by the developers for its crystal-clear water and unspoiled tropical marine ecosystem.

poseidon-fiji-01

So how do you like to spend a night in this suite? that’s 70% of it made up from 4 inch thick acrylic glass so you can get the beautiful sea-view while you sleep. Plus check out these features: king-size beds, sitting rooms and library, and personal office facilities such as WiFi and high-speed Internet access. They will also have flat screen TVs, CD/DVD players and refrigerators stocked with gourmet snacks and premium beverages. The ensuite include large jacuzzi tubs and hydro-spa showers. Now that’s what you’ll call underwater luxury.

Aside from its underwater suites Poseidon Resort also offer stays at over the water bungalows and beach-front villas, so if you’re so much of a water freak then maybe this is another option.

For construction and safety issue please visit poseidon’s website.

Now the cost… of course with such luxury there’s always gonna be a huge bill – well too bad it is a humongus cost to stay (as for my budget) a weeklong visit will cost $15,000 USD per person meaning a couple will be charge at $30K for a week to stay in a shared suite. The resort can accomodate maximum of 144 people (72 rooms/suites total), so if you want to book the whole thing say for a wedding event or coorporate event then it’ll cost 3 million USD for a week. yes that’s 3,000,000 with the six zeros!

This is the view of the lobby. I also read about the possibility of coming up with undersea chapel or some sort like that for a wedding event. The undersea chapel will be a splendid space for a vow renewal, with coral garden backdrop – how romantic.

Up on the tree hotel – The woodpecker hotel, vasteras, sweden

Posted by editor On November - 4 - 2008

woodpecker-treehouse-hotel

Suspended 13 meter above the ground this tree hotel is located in Vasteras, Sweden (Not to far from Stockholm). So how do you get into the room? There’s this sturdy and wobbly rope ladder (so you gotta climb I assume) and then once you reach the platform/deck area then you can view the impressive park bellow and the lake beyond.

Well if you always dream of that tree house once you’re small a stay in the woodpecker hotel is definetly a must. And it’s only one room available at a rate about 250-350 depending upon the season (summer season is very popular)

take a look at the closer view here:

what can be more adventurous than staying in a cave? well it’s not the primitive cave I’m refering to but more like Elkep Evi, a boutique hotel that offers cave rooms with modern facilities and ideally located near the top of Esbelli, the hill above the town of Urgup in Cappadocia. By the way Elkep Evi is the only cave hotel located at the top of mountain in Cappadocia. Check out these pictures of the hotel and surrounding scenic views.

dubai Burj Al Arab Hotel

agassi 6

agassi 5

If it’s lifestyle you’re looking for then this is one of it:
Playing a tennis game on a court that set way high – at 211 meters above the ground, indeed the court is not even a court to begin with. It is a helipad area of the Burj Al Arab Hotel that gets converted to a court for Andre Agassi and Roger Federer to play the match.

Interesting and scary part of it is the court doesn’t have any fence all around it, so unhit tennis balls will plunge free fall downward directly, just as long as players don’t run too far back – scare me.

watch the video here:

Well the hotel itself is a true beauty, ranging from $2,160 – $28,000/night (well some actually said $1,000 to start is also available) in the world’s most luxurious (the only 7 star) hotel in the world and the world’s tallest (321 meter above the ground) hotel, one can certainly get the sense of a true luxurious expensive lifestyle.
