Italian Chicken – A Fool Proof Way to Cook Chicken Breast

Posted by Smurfette On February - 27 - 2009

I have to admit that I am not a good cook and I am not trying to be one. Despite my lack of enthusiasm in cooking, I still need to feed healthy food to my family. We all know that chicken breast is the healthiest chicken cut. However, I can never cook chicken breast that tastes good. It is always dry and hard. I tried baking it, frying it and even slow cooking it. Nothing works. Finally, I tried a really easy recipe (I do not remember where I got it from)

MAC Makeup Brushes

Posted by Smurfette On February - 26 - 2009

I am always a fan of make up, even though my mom did not really teach me how to do it. I learn mostly from books (before youtube). As I’m getting better doing it, I learn that make up brushes are very important in achieving flawless make up. It does not matter if you use a hundred dollar foundation if your brush is not good, you will end up with uneven face. I evolved from using finger for my foundation to cosmetic sponge to flat foundation brush and finally to stippling brush.

To Drink or Not To Drink

Posted by Smurfette On February - 25 - 2009

I always thought that drinking in moderation is good for health (at least that’s what I have read everywhere). However, when I was reading the news on The Washington Post I saw an article that says otherwise. Here is the full article:

For years, many women have been buoyed by the news about one of life’s guilty pleasures: That nightly glass of wine may not only take the edge off a day but also improve their health. Now it turns out that sipping pinot noir might not be such a good idea after all.

Wedding and Party Gowns

Posted by editor On February - 24 - 2009

Inspiration for wedding and party gowns? hmm… I found this wedding gown as I browse online, it’s such an inspiration not just because it looks lovely but it is well thought with layers of delicate tulle and chiffon as well as laces. The above wedding gown is designed by Adrian Gan a famous Indonesian fashion designer. In general flowers especially Rose will always be a classic choice, especially for a wedding. However other type of flowers can also make a good and outstanding statement such as shown bellow in Vera Wang’s Luxe Callalily collection (approximate retail for $6,000-$18,000). Flower has been a popular and classy choice of many gown and ornament designer, so never think of it as an out dated fashion – especially for a wedding ball either for the bride or the attenders.

But if you want to go a little different or perhaps simpler (without the busy look of many flowers attached on your body) then try to wear Vera Wang’s gown that introduce slight color combination while still keeping the simple sweet look of a bride, if you don’t feel comfortable to wear it for that big day there’s always another option: to wear it as an evening gown for a special occasion instead.

Handheld Bidet – A Simple Way to Better Personal Hygiene

Posted by Smurfette On February - 24 - 2009

Where I grew up, I was used to having handheld bidets in our bathrooms. It is a common bathroom accessory in Asia. However, when I got to the States, I was surprised that people only have toilet paper in the bathroom.  How do they clean themselves?  When I was still in school I have no other choice but bringing wet tissue everywhere I go.  But once I owned my own home, I bought handheld bidets and had my husband install them in our bathrooms.  In my opinion, cleaning with streaming water is a lot more hygienic than just cleaning yourself with only toilet paper.

I got my bidet from Sanicare and here’s what they have to say about benefits of bidet:
